Old Logo
After doing some consultant work for his brother I was referred to Wesley Knight and asked to redesign his logo. Wesley's logo redesign came about as he evolved beyond being craftsman.
Research
I came out to his studio located in the Bronx and interviewing him, learned about his process, the tools he used and the space he worked in. From there I was inspired by his use of light in some of his artwork he had hanging in his office and materials he used in his everyday. After deconstructing and compiling everything I began some experiments with how light could be incorporated into a logo.
New Logo
The original logotype is a combination of Futura and Helvetica. I wanted to take it to a new place by adding more geometric and angular quality of Futura.
The "W" was born from the experimentation with light and the form was reminiscent of glasses.
